Ric Flair Misses Advertised AEW Dynamite Appearance Due to Injury

Fans online noted Ric Flair’s absence from the live broadcast of the AEW Blood and Guts edition of Dynamite, where he was advertised to appear. Flair was expected to be part of an in-ring segment alongside Ricky Steamboat and FTR, but he was not featured on the telecast.

According to a report from The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, Flair was, in fact, in attendance at the event in Greensboro, North Carolina. The reason for his absence from the show was due to an injury. Meltzer reported that Flair was in “a ton of pain” from a recent rotator cuff tear.

Flair did make a brief, non-televised appearance for the live crowd. However, he reportedly left the arena early due to the discomfort from the injury.
Meltzer noted that AEW had to “change the show around” as a result of Flair’s inability to participate as planned. It is assumed that the original plan was for Flair to be involved in the aforementioned segment with Ricky Steamboat and FTR.

The injury appears to be a very recent development. Just a couple of days ago, Flair was active on his social media accounts promoting his scheduled appearance on Dynamite and seemed to be okay at the time.

Flair has remained under AEW employment despite his Woooo Energy drink deal, which covered his pay, wrapping up. His most recent appearance on AEW television was earlier this year when he paid tribute to his long-time friend and fellow Four Horsemen member, Steve “Mongo” McMichael, following his passing.

Meltzer did not have details on when or how Flair sustained the injury.
