AEW Files Trademarks For Several Terms Including ‘AEW Firestorm’ And ‘AEW Blitz’

AEW has filed four new trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for potential new programming. The new filings are for the following names:

  • AEW Firestorm
  • AEW Blitz
  • AEW Tidal Wave
  • AEW Fire

All four of the trademark applications were filed with an identical “Goods and Services” description, which is standard for a professional wrestling television show. The description reads:

“Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services in the nature of live professional wrestling performances; Entertainment services in the nature of production of professional wrestling television programs; Entertainment services, namely, production and distribution of ongoing television programs in the field of professional wrestling”

While there is no confirmation on what these trademarks will be used for, AEW often trademarks names for special episodes of Dynamite or Collision, such as “Spring Breakthru”.

These filings could also be for an entirely new weekly show. The company has been in the market for a new program, having previously filed a trademark for “AEW: Shockwave” on September 6, 2024. That name, however, has been in a legal dispute with the NWA, which filed an opposition and has been using the “Shockwave” name since 2020.
