MVP will be in AEW for a while longer as a member of The Hurt Syndicate, as he recently signed an extension with the company.
MVP Re-Signs With AEW
Speaking to Adventure Gamers, the 52-year-old said he will be in AEW for “quite a while” in his current role and possibly behind the scenes, which is something he is hoping for. He did not say how many years he re-signed for or if he was previously under a one-year deal.
MVP expressed his satisfaction with his current position in the company. “I’m very happy where I’m at right now in my career at this stage to be able to continue to contribute to the business and make money with my friends and entertain at the level that we’re still able to maintain,” MVP said.
He also gave credit to AEW President Tony Khan for allowing the popular faction to reunite. “I appreciate Tony Khan for giving me, Bobby (Lashley), and Shelton (Benjamin) an opportunity to get the team back together for a final run, and the future looks bright,” he said.
The Hurt Syndicate’s Next Move
MVP debuted at September 2024’s AEW Grand Slam, which began the eventual reformation of the former WWE faction alongside Lashley and Benjamin. Benjamin said earlier this year that he signed a three-year deal, while the length of Lashley’s deal is unknown. The trio, known as The Hurt Syndicate, held the AEW World Tag Team Championship for 214 days before losing the titles in August.
MVP, Lashley, and Benjamin are now focused on Full Gear on November 22. Both Lashley and Benjamin have been announced as participants in the Casino Gauntlet match, where the winner will be crowned the inaugural AEW National Champion.
