Dustin Rhodes Says He Needs Double Shoulder Surgery After Retirement

Dustin Rhodes is still recovering from double knee replacement surgery he underwent back in August 2025, but the veteran wrestler isn’t done battling through pain just yet.

In a new update, Rhodes revealed that once his in-ring career officially ends, he’ll be going under the knife again—this time for both shoulders.

“The one positive I can say about my knee replacements is, the arthritis is gone. I will be doing both shoulder when I call it quits. They are also destroyed. I chose to abuse my body in more ways than 1, and wouldn’t change a damn thing,” Rhodes shared on social media.

Rhodes is targeting a return in March 2026 following his knee surgery. At the time he stepped away, he held gold on two fronts—one-half of the ROH Tag Team Champions with Sammy Guevara, and one-third of the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions alongside Marshall and Ross Von Erich. Both titles were vacated due to his recovery.

Despite the setbacks, Rhodes isn’t leaving AEW anytime soon. He signed a six-year contract extension with the company in late 2024, solidifying his long-term future with the promotion both on-screen and behind the scenes.
