Dominik Mysterio on Interrupting John Cena in Boston
Dominik Mysterio was the perfect villain for John Cena’s final farewell in his hometown of Boston, Massachusetts. Appearing on the Towers of Power podcast, “Dirty Dom” discussed how he mentally prepared to walk into a deafening TD Garden crowd that was there to celebrate their hero.
When asked how he prepared for the moment, knowing he was walking out to face both John Cena and Triple H in Cena’s hometown, Mysterio’s answer was pure “Dirty Dom.”
“Honestly, for me, it was, it wasn’t even more of like preparing,” Mysterio said. “It was just making that moment about me, you know, because I knew I was going to be in there with, obviously, John Cena and Triple H in Boston, TD Garden… everything was perfectly in place for John Cena, and it was his night, so when I went out there, I made sure that it was about me.”
Embracing the Boos
The Boston crowd reacted with a wave of boos as soon as his music hit, something Mysterio says he thrives on. When asked if that level of hatred ever phases him, he was clear.
“No, it doesn’t. It doesn’t get to me at all,” Mysterio stated. “Because that’s, that’s the thing about being booed. You got to embrace it. You know, some people don’t like it, but as long as you’re getting some noise out of people, man, that’s all that matters.”
Mysterio would go on to lose the Intercontinental Championship to Cena later that night, giving Cena the one title that had eluded him his entire career.
