Dominik Mysterio Credits The Judgment Day for His Success
From a smiling babyface to one of the most hated heels in WWE, Dominik Mysterio’s transformation has been a career-defining success. During his interview on the Towers of Power podcast, Mysterio pinpointed the exact moment he realized he had found his groove.
“I think when I started getting comfortable with the Judgment Day,” Mysterio said, identifying his faction as the key to his change. “With Damian, Finn, and Rhea at the beginning, and then JD coming in. I think just all of those guys helping me just get comfortable, you know, like we were getting along backstage, so we were getting along in ring, and we were getting along off camera.”
Finding His Confidence
He continued, “So on camera, our chemistry was just… it clicked. It was working. And I think that’s what really helped me out. It made me realize that I could hang. I could hang with the big dogs, once I started getting comfortable.”
That comfort and confidence led to management placing a significant amount of trust in him. He became the go-to opponent for top-tier stars returning from long-term injuries, a role that he noted solidified his position.
Gaining Trust
“The people that they started giving me the trust to work with. CM Punk was coming back. I was Punk’s first match back. Randy coming back from injury. I was Randy’s first match back. So, like, stuff like that, that I started noticing that they really started putting the trust in me.”
He also cited his grueling schedule during that time as proof of his new role. “When I was working, you know, NXT, I was doing Raw and I was doing SmackDown. I was doing all the live events as well. So I feel like that really helped me and solidified me and gave the confidence that I’m in this, and I’m doing it.”
