The status of Tony D’Angelo remains up in the air. The former NXT North American Champion has not been seen on television since the end of July, and a new report sheds some light on his absence.
According to a report from Fightful, D’Angelo was backstage at the November 11 NXT show in Orlando. However, he was reportedly not dressed to train or film any content for television. The report noted that it has been “a rarity to see him these days” and that people backstage were happy to see him there.
D’Angelo was last seen on the July 30 edition of NXT. That episode concluded his feud with his former associate, “Stacks.” After D’Angelo defeated both Stacks and Luca Crusifino in a triple threat match, he was seen at his restaurant eating alone. Suddenly, he spotted someone off-screen, and the scene immediately cut to black, ending the show in a manner similar to the infamous series finale of ‘The Sopranos’.
D’Angelo signed with WWE in 2021 and quickly became a popular act in NXT, forming a “family” of associates that included Stacks, Adrianna Rizzo, and Luca Crusifino.
There is still no clear indication of when D’Angelo will be back on television. While his absence has not been officially explained by WWE, previous reports from earlier in the year suggested that D’Angelo may have requested time off for personal reasons, though this remains unconfirmed.
