CM Punk: The Women’s WarGames Match ‘Should Be The Main Event’ Of WWE Survivor Series 2025

CM Punk, the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, has offered his thoughts on which match should headline the WWE Survivor Series: WarGames Premium Live Event. While appearing on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams, Punk, whose wife, AJ Lee, is a competitor in the Women’s WarGames match, argued that the women’s contest has the star power and narrative to close the show.

The Argument for the Women’s Match

The Women’s WarGames match will pit Team Rhea Ripley, which includes AJ Lee, against Team Nia Jax, featuring Punk’s long-time friend and rival, Becky Lynch. The Men’s WarGames match, which features Punk, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and The Usos against the combined forces of Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, Logan Paul, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed, is considered by many to be the expected main event due to the multiple titles and major stars involved.

“I’m a little biased, my wife is obviously in that match, and I’m excited to watch it. I think the women should be the main event. Selfishly, I do probably think us guys will main event. There’s two titles involved in there. They’re not on the line, but star power is off the charts.”

Punk acknowledged that the Men’s WarGames match, which features two world champions, two former world champions, and several top contenders, does have “star power off the charts”. However, he insisted the women’s match can equally boast a similar level of star power and anticipation.

The All-Star Dream Team and AJ Lee’s Return

Punk singled out the return of his wife, AJ Lee, to the ring as a significant factor, especially her participation in a violent structure like the WarGames cage. AJ Lee has been away from WWE for many years, and her return to team with Charlotte Flair, Rhea Ripley, IYO SKY, and Alexa Bliss against their opponents is a blockbuster bout.

“I also think the star power is off the charts when it comes to the women. AJ Lee, coming back to wrestling and being in a cage match is a big deal. She gets to punch Becky Lynch in the face. I can only imagine how good that is going to feel. But IYO SKY Ripley, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, just a huge all-star, babyface, dream team. And I can’t wait to see all those girls. I feel like it’s almost like The Breakfast Club. They have their Bender, their princess, their nerd, they have their jock. And they have their crazy goth, Rhea Ripley, and I don’t know, just something something about that team.”
