Omega was sidelined in December 2023 after being hospitalized with a severe, life-threatening case of diverticulitis, a colon infection that required major surgery in May 2024 to remove 25 centimeters of his colon.
Despite returning to the ring, Omega noted that he is still learning to navigate the daily fluctuations of his health, which requires constant adjustment to his intense performance style. The reunion of Omega with The Young Bucks occurred at Full Gear on November 22, 2025, when they embraced after defeating Jurassic Express.
Creative Direction and The Elite Reunion
The report from Dave Meltzer suggests that Omega’s condition is directly influencing his creative positioning in AEW, leading to a strategy that minimizes his time in physically grueling one-on-one competition.
Meltzer wrote, “They are trying to avoid putting him in a long singles match and that may be part of the reason they put him back with the Young Bucks.”
