Andrade Announces His In-Ring Return

Andrade El Idolo has announced he is set to return to the ring tonight after receiving special permission from WWE. During a recent interview with Sportskeeda, Andrade revealed that WWE sent a signed letter to his lawyer allowing him to participate in the WWC’s show in Puerto Rico on Saturday, December 13. He is scheduled to challenge Xavant for the WWC Universal Championship at the event.

The situation surrounding Andrade’s absence from the ring has been complicated by a lengthy non-compete clause. “I want to say thank you to my lawyer because my lawyer now has a letter from WWE. Because we had some little problems because I have the no-compete for 12 months,” Andrade explained.

Andrade confirmed the breakthrough came just in time for the show. “Today, my lawyer texted me and told me that Andrade, I have a letter signed that you can participate tonight in Puerto Rico in the company WWC,” he said. However, he clarified that this clearance is specific and does not apply to other promotions at this time. “I hope [to be] back soon to AEW. I don’t know when I’m back. For now, the letter is for just this show for Puerto Rico.”

The mention of a 12-month non-compete sheds light on why Andrade has been absent from television following his brief appearance for AEW earlier this fall. Reports indicate that this extended clause—significantly longer than the standard 90-day period—was enforced by WWE after he was released “with cause” for alleged violations of the wellness policy. Andrade had previously appeared on AEW Dynamite to attack Kenny Omega, but WWE subsequently enforced the clause to halt further appearances.
