D-Von Dudley Recalls Handing Boots To The Hardys In Final Match: ‘They Had No Idea’

D-Von Dudley says Matt and Jeff Hardy had no idea that he and Bully Ray were going to hand their boots to them after their TNA Bound For Glory match.

The emotional moment came after a Tables Match between the two legendary teams at the pay-per-view earlier this year, which served as Team 3D’s final match. After The Hardys picked up the victory to retain their TNA and NXT World Tag Team Championships, the Dudley Boyz unlaced their boots and handed them to their longtime rivals.

Speaking in an interview with Denise Salcedo, D-Von revealed that while he and Bully Ray had planned to leave their boots in the ring, the decision to hand them directly to Matt and Jeff was a last-minute audible that The Hardys were not privy to.

“They had no idea we were going to do that, they had no clue,” D-Von said. “We had discussed (with them) taking our boots off and leaving them in the ring, but not to take them off and then hand them to them.” D-Von explained that the idea came from Bully Ray earlier that day.

“I saw Bubba (Bully Ray) later on that day, and he goes, ‘Yeah, we’re going to do the taking off the boots,’ I was like, alright, great,” D-Von continued. “He goes ‘But D-Von, we’re going to hand them to the Hardys.’ I went ‘Wow, that’s big. We’ve definitely got to do that.'”

The match at Bound For Glory marked the final chapter in the storied rivalry between the two teams, which spanned decades and multiple promotions. The bout saw The Hardys defeat The Dudleys.
