LA Knight is expected to make his return to WWE television sooner rather than later following a write-off angle earlier this month. According to a new report from Bodyslam.net, the “Megastar” could be back as soon as the January 5 episode of Monday Night Raw, which emanates from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Knight was written off TV on the December 8 episode of Raw courtesy of a vicious attack by The Vision, the faction led by Paul Heyman. The angle saw Knight rekindle his issues with the group before losing to Logan Paul in the main event. In the closing moments of the show, the faction beat Knight down, culminating in Bronson Reed delivering a devastating Tsunami splash to Knight on top of a car.
The booking of that segment quickly fueled outrage on social media, with a number of WWE fans accusing the company of “burying” the former United States Champion. However, Fightful Select reported at the time that people within WWE were confused by the outrage. The company views the beatdown as a standard story beat intended to advance the narrative rather than diminish Knight’s standing. WWE officials reportedly view Knight as one of the top babyfaces in the company and have been aware of his strong fan reactions for quite some time.
Another point online was a conspiracy theory suggesting Knight was being punished for a specific unscripted moment. Knight had recently held up a fan sign that read “We want LA Knight, not Jey Uso,” leading to speculation that he had garnered heat with management.
Fightful Select debunked this rumor, stating there is “zero heat internally” on Knight for the action. One source in WWE creative noted that it would be a “weird punishment” to book Knight to defeat Jey Uso in the “Last Time is Now” tournament if they were truly upset with him.
