Big E To Release Unfiltered Memoir On Depression And Psychosis

Ettore “Big E” Ewen has announced a memoir, “How I Got Over: Healing from Depression and Psychosis to Find Joy In and Out of the Ring,” which is now available for presale.

The former WWE Champion shared the announcement on Instagram. “If you’ve ever faced setbacks, struggled to find your footing, questioned your purpose, or needed a reminder that growth is rarely a straight line, I hope you’ll find something meaningful in these pages,” he wrote. In a promotional graphic, Ewen said he had “spent years only telling parts of my story” and that, for the first time, he is “telling all of it.”

According to the book’s Amazon listing, the memoir chronicles Ewen’s wrestling and entertainment career alongside the mental health struggles he has dealt with since childhood. The publisher’s description notes that Ewen has lived with depression, body image struggles, and later experiences with hallucinations, and that he navigated an ongoing treatment journey while building his career. It frames the book as a vulnerable and ultimately hopeful story, and a testament to resilience, community, and self-acceptance.

The memoir covers Ewen’s rise to becoming the fourth Black WWE Champion in company history and his run as part of The New Day with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, one of the most prominent tag teams of the 2010s. The book is published by BenBella Books and is currently scheduled for release on February 2, 2027.

Ewen joined WWE’s developmental system in 2009 after a football career, reached the main roster in 2012, and won the Intercontinental Championship in 2013. He suffered a serious neck injury during a March 2022 SmackDown match and did not wrestle again, officially retiring in 2026 while remaining with WWE in an analyst role. The memoir draws in part on a 2024 piece he wrote for The Players’ Tribune.

Ewen is also scheduled to deliver a TEDx Talk titled “How I Got Over” this August in Davenport, Iowa. Presale information is available at HowIGotOver.com.
