WWE is dealing with visa problems of its own. Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer has reported that the company is facing “significant visa issues” at the moment, the latest wrestling promotion to be hit by a problem that has affected businesses across the United States.
Details are scarce. It is not known which WWE talent are affected or what the issues mean for the roster going forward, only that the situation has been described as significant. Visa problems have repeatedly kept foreign talent on the shelf across the industry over the past few years.
The report follows earlier signs that visa issues had complicated matters at WWE-owned AAA. The location for night one of AAA Triplemania 34 was initially left unannounced amid major visa concerns affecting Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, though the company has since confirmed the show will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday, September 11. Night two follows in Mexico City on September 13.
WWE is not alone. AEW has been navigating its own visa situation, with Komander and The Beast Mortos currently unable to compete in the United States. Both have been kept busy in CMLL in Mexico instead. With Mortos and Sammy Guevara holding the ROH World Tag Team Championships, Tony Khan indicated the titles would be defended south of the border, which is what happened on June 12, when Guevara and Mortos retained against Los Villanos at CMLL’s event from Arena Mexico.
Komander, meanwhile, has stayed active with a run of CMLL singles matches since June 5, facing the likes of Soberano Jr., Ángel de Oro, Volador Jr., Neón, and Capitán Suicida.
