Major Japanese star may be headed to WWE

It was just announced this morning by Pro Wrestling NOAH that Kenta Kobayashi (known to fans as KENTA) has resigned from the promotion and will be wrestling his last shows there on May 3rd and May 17th.

The Wrestling Observer newsletter first reported in January that KENTA had spent some time in the WWE Performance Center and that led to speculation by some that he might be signing with WWE. Well, apparently he impressed some people there. Naturally this resignation will lead to more speculation that he will sign with WWE.

KENTA noted at the time in a blog post that executives were present at his workout at the Performance Center so he believes he may have made an impression with them. He also expressed a desire to work with WWE at some point in his career.

This would be a major loss for the NOAH organization. If you haven’t seen some of KENTA’s work then you really should. In the United States you may remember some of the awesome matches he had with Bryan Danielson in Ring of Honor in 2005 and his incredible match with Low Ki at Final Battle 2005.

Reversal HARAJUKU apparel in Japan has discounted 20% off KENTA’s merchandise.
