Action Andretti names his favorite WWE stars while growing up: ‘I was a very big SmackDown guy as a kid’

Denise Salcedo recently interviewed AEW’s Action Andretti ahead of this Sunday’s Revolution pay-per-view.

Andretti talking about his match where he beat Chris Jericho:

“I really didn’t think that’s what I was going to be doing that day. I just randomly got called to be there, but I figured it to be for some reason because they are flying me out. Any other time I’ve been to AEW, it’s been fairly local to me and this was in Texas, which wasn’t at all. When they told me, I really couldn’t believe it. It felt too good to be true. I was very grateful to first find out that I was gonna be wrestling Chris Jericho. That’s a huge thing itself and then when I found out I was going over, it really felt too good to be true. A lot of things were just going on in my head. I started getting a little bit of nerves but excitement and just wanting to tell everybody, but I couldn’t. I just took some time to myself after, got all my nerves out, told myself this is happening, we’re gonna go out they’re, we’re gonna do this, we’re gonna crush it. You’re here for a reason. You’re in the situation for a reason. I get fired up just thinking about that. It was me and Chris. We made magic happen out there and we made a very special moment. He’s the one who made it for me, so I can’t thank him enough for it.”

On who his favorite wrestlers were when he was growing up:

“I definitely did watch a lot of early AJ Styles. He’s been doing it for so long. He’s definitely one of the best to get in that ring. Just to be compared to him is very, very, honoring for me. When I was growing up, I watched a lot of Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio. Those two are huge for me. John Cena, I was a big fan of Batista and The Undertaker. When it comes to my style, Jeff Hardy and Mysterio, those are my guys right there. I would always have all their merchandise on and stuff. So yeah, I was a very big SmackDown guy as a kid.”
