Adam Cole believed to have suffered a concussion during AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door match

The four-way IWGP World Heavyweight Title match at Sunday’s AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view event had an odd finish that left fans concerned about Adam Cole, who took the pinfall loss to champion Jay White in the bout that also included Hangman Page and Kazuchika Okada.

The finish of the bout saw Okada go for the rainmaker on Cole, who ducked the clothesline and collapsed. White got into the ring to deliver the bladerunner to Okada. White then rolled Cole over and pinned him.

Following the bout, AEW medical staff checked on Cole as The Young Bucks and Kyle O’Reilly came to the ring. Cole did walk out of the ring on his own power.

Bryan Alvarez of F4Wonline.com reports that Cole is believed to have suffered a concussion during the bout.

Prior to Forbidden Door, Cole had been on the sidelines as he hadn’t wrestled since the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament final at Double or Nothing in late May where he beat Samoa Joe.

Originally, Cole was supposed to work a ten-man tag team match on the Dynamite following Double Or Nothing, but was removed from the match shortly after the announcement.

Cole joins a long list of AEW talent dealing with injuries. We wish Cole a speedy recovery.
