Adam Cole comments on how NXT can improve in competition with AEW

Adam Cole has weighed in on the war between WWE NXT and AEW Dynamite.

The former WWE NXT Champion did so during an interview with TV Insider. Although Cole has been one of the top stars of NXT, the brand has been on the losing side of the war in both total viewership and in the all-important 18-49 demographic.

NXT has won some weeks, but the majority of the time, AEW is victorious. Cole started out by bringing up how he has friends in AEW and is dating Britt Baker.

“Even though we do have this competition on Wednesdays. When we’re focused on our show, we’re focused on our show. We’re not thinking about what they’re doing. At least I don’t. I’m not sure what anyone else is doing.”

He continued by noting that he doesn’t have the ability to multitask mentally like that. Cole is only worried about what he’s doing and how to make his segments better.

“Talking to them, I can tell you they feel the same way. They want to make the best show possible.”

Cole was also asked what NXT can do to improve while in competition with AEW.

“Going forward, I think it’s to continue to highlight our strengths. I think finding ways to have really exciting matches and angles and interviews. Finding ways to constantly try new things and see what sticks and what doesn’t stick and evolving the television show. They’re both fairly new television shows.”

Cole stated that while NXT has been around quite some time, being on the USA Network is new.

“I just think the brand is continuing to grow, and we have to continue to find different and interesting ways to tell stories. We have a great crew of talent, males and females who are some of the best in the world. As long as they’re highlighted, NXT will continue growing. I’m confident in that.”

Cole also talked about facing Pat McAfee at NXT TakeOver: 30, wanting to stay in NXT, and more. Check out the full interview here.
