Adam Cole is not in talks with AEW, staying with WWE is a real possibility

Bryan Alvarez provided an update on what he knows about the situation with Adam Cole. Alvarez backed up what Dave Meltzer tweeted earlier about Tony Khan not yet offering a deal.

Alvarez also debunked some of the rumors making the rounds in the last couple of days.

Alvarez said, “I guess there was a story that got out last night that Adam Cole had been made an offer by Tony Khan. There was another story from a day or two ago that Adam Cole had verbally agreed to a new deal from WWE. There was another story that he was in the middle of negotiations or whatever. Listen, Adam Cole is a very very well-liked guy. I got a bunch of messages this morning from a bunch of people that were very upset about things that had been reported on the internet, that are very close to Adam Cole on both sides.”

Alvarez continued, “You can make of this what you will but this is what I was told – A few days ago a story came out that Adam Cole’s deal had expired in early July and he had verbally agreed to stay through SummerSlam. Message after message this morning essentially just saying I don’t know where all of these stories are coming from but nothing has changed with Adam Cole. Adam Cole has not been made an offer by Tony Khan. Adam Cole is at the moment, not in negotiations with WWE. He could be at any time, he could be today for all I know. But there are two weeks until SummerSlam and as of today, from both sides, I was told that nothing has changed. There are two weeks before his deal is up. He has two weeks to negotiate with WWE. I don’t know what they are gonna offer him. He’s going to make a decision based on that. If he does not come to an agreement by the time SummerSlam is over, he will then begin negotiating with AEW. I’ve said it before, I know people think it’s a foregone conclusion that he is going to go to AEW but I am here to tell you that I do not think it is a foregone conclusion that he is going to go to AEW. Maybe he will, maybe he won’t. At the end of the day and the best of my knowledge from people on both sides, there is nothing new on Adam Cole since the last time we had a report on Adam Cole, which was like a week ago. So we wait and see.”

Alvarez said that Cole is seen as someone who is going to do business the right way and he’s not going to talk with another company until he is free and clear. At this point, nothing is guaranteed until he either accepts or declines whatever is offered to him by WWE.
