AEW All Out in Chicago, IL closed out with Chris Jericho vs. Adam “Hangman” Page to crown the first-ever AEW World Heavyweight Champion. Page’s wife and parents were seen sitting at ringside for this match.
Jericho got in much better shape for this match and JR said he looked better than he has in years. Some of the action took place at ringside near Page’s family with Jericho using the ring bell and a microphone as a weapon.
Late in the match, Jericho was bloodied after taking a discus punch to the eye from Page. Moments later, Page did a swinging neck breaker off the top but Jericho kicked out of the pin attempt.
Very late in the match, Page delivered a moonsault onto Jericho at ringside and Page sold his knee after the awkward landing. The announcers pointed out that it’s the same knee that has been injured for most of the year. Page went for the Buckshot Lariat but Jericho caught him with the Codebreaker. Page kicked out at two and a half. Page eventually hit the Deadeye but Jericho kicked out of the pin attempt.
Jericho hit the Judas Effect and pinned Page to win the title.
