All Elite Wrestling has announced that they have suspended Jake Hager for 10 days and he has been fined “an undisclosed amount” for striking an official last night at Fyter Fest.
For those of you that missed it, Hager struck the referee after a controversial finish that saw Hager apply a choke on Cody Rhodes. Rhodes was able to use his momentum to pin Hager at the same time while being choked and Hager thought he won the match via submission.
As a result of the finish, Rhodes retained the TNT Championship. The announcement of the fine and suspension appears to be AEW’s way of addressing some logic holes in storylines with wrestlers getting away with too much with referees. Internally, the storyline gaps with wrestlers and referees have been addressed and this appears to be the result of those discussions.
