As WWE prepares to host one of its biggest events of the year, Survivor Series: WarGames, at Petco Park in San Diego, the company has found itself sharing the spotlight with its rival. Fans arriving in the area ahead of the Saturday, November 29 event have reported seeing a prominent billboard promoting AEW Dynamite located directly outside the stadium.
The placement of the advertisement appears to be a strategic move by All Elite Wrestling, capitalizing on the massive influx of wrestling fans descending upon the city for WWE’s first-ever stadium show at the home of the San Diego Padres. The billboard specifically promotes AEW’s flagship program, Dynamite, ensuring that the brand is visible to the thousands of attendees expected to fill the venue this weekend.
A Historic Weekend For WWE
The bold marketing tactic comes as WWE gears up for a historic night in San Diego. Survivor Series is set to be the first WWE Premium Live Event held in the city since 2008 and marks the first time the franchise has run a stadium event at Petco Park. The show is headlined by a WarGames match featuring Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes teaming with Roman Reigns, CM Punk, and The Usos to take on a formidable squad including Brock Lesnar and The Rock’s associate, Logan Paul.
Additionally, the event features a highly anticipated Intercontinental Championship match between John Cena and hometown hero Dominik Mysterio. With Cena currently on his retirement tour, the match has drawn significant attention, making the event a prime target for guerrilla marketing.
There will also be a Women’s War Games Match featuring Rhea Ripley, IYO SKY, Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, and AJ Lee vs Nia Jax, Lash Legend, Asuka, Kairi Sane, and Becky Lynch
In addition, the Women’s World Championship will be on the line between Stephanie Vaquer (Champion) vs Nikki Bella
