Cody came out and during his entrance he brought out a sledgehammer and bashed a chair reminiscent of an elaborate Triple H WrestleMania entrance. The crowd chanted “Dusty” before the match began.
At one point, Dustin had Cody set up for the Shattered Dreams, but Cody removed the middle turnbuckle. Dustin ended up throwing the turnbuckle pad into the crowd and charged at Cody anyways. But Cody gave him a drop-toe-hold into the exposed turnbuckle, busting him wide open. Shortly after, Brandy delivered a spear to Dustin on the outside, prompting referee Earl Hepner to eject her from ringside. Diamond Dallas Page had to carry her away kicking and screaming.
Later in the match, Dustin delivered a belt shot to the bare backside of Cody.
It was interesting to note how much Cody played the heel in this match, utilizing low blows and outside interference from Brandy. by the end of the match, Dustin had all the sympathy and all the fan support.
They each kicked out of each other’s finishers. The crowd loved everything about this match and gave it every positive wrestling chant you can think of.
Finally, Cody delivered the Cross Rhodes for a second time and got the win over his bloodied brother.
After the match, Cody told Dustin he “doesn’t get to retire here” and then said he wanted his brother to team with him next month at Fight for the Fallen against the Young Bucks.
