Backstage:
Hangman Page said on Saturday the Death Riders bloodied and hanged Colt Cabana, so tonight, I will punish Wheeler Yuta for it. MJF entered and said I’m going to beat you for the AEW Championship and I’m not going to need my guaranteed contract to do it. Page told him you’re not going to goad me into a championship match. If you want a match for this championship, you’re going to use that contract or you’re going to earn it, and you don’t have the guts to do either because you are a gutless coward.
AEW World Champion Hangman Adam Page vs. Wheeler Yuta
Page gave Yuta the Death Valley Driver for a near fall. Yuta blocked the Dead Eye and raked Page’s eye. Page came back with a clothesline and the Buckshot Lariat to score the pinfall. After the match, Page wrapped a chain around his fist. He busted Yuta open by punching him in the head with it. Page stopped himself from hanging Yuta over the top rope with it, and yelled at him saying nobody is coming to save you.
Winner: Adam Page
Backstage:
Billie Starkz told Athena that she will soften up Toni Storm in their match later tonight so Athena can win the AEW Women’s Championship from Storm.
World Tag Team Title Eliminator Tournament:
FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) (w/Stokely Hathaway) vs Jet Speed (Kevin Knight & Mike Bailey)
Stokely came to the ring with the aid of a crutch. Knight gave Dax a hurricanrana for a near fall. Dax gave Bailey a slingshot powerbomb. Knight slid behind Dax and rolled him up for a near fall. Dax blocked a victory roll by Knight and held the crutch that Stokely reached out to him for added leverage to pin him.
Winners: FTR
After the match, Stokely said Adam Copeland belongs in prison. I’m not a wrestler and he had no business putting his hands on me. Copeland came out. Stokely told Copeland you’re not allowed to be in the vicinity of FTR. Copeland said I made a business deal with some gentleman and they are willing to come down and do what I can’t do. Their business is hurting people. Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, and MVP came to the ring and began brawling with FTR until security broke them up. Inside the ring, Copeland attempted a spear on Hathaway, but Hathaway ducked and Copeland speared one of the security guards.
Backstage:
Nick Wayne, Mother Wayne, and Kip Sabian were backstage. Nick said we explained ourselves as to why we did what we did to Christian Cage, and now it’s time we back up those words physically. Starting this Saturday, we will begin our quest to prove why we are going to be one of the most dangerous factions in AEW. We are going to show what we are able to do without being held down by a patriarch.
Pre-taped interview:
Jon Moxley said Adam Page fought the fight of his life at All-In. I lost the match but I’m ready to go again. We know who the Hangman was that rolled into Arlington. By the end of the night, we will find out who the Hangman was that rolled out.
Will Ospreay will be out of action:
Ospreay said I’ve been struggling with my neck for about 10 months. I haven’t spoken to anybody about it, and should have been telling the medical staff about this, but I wanted to get us over the finish line. I made a promise to Swerve, Hangman, and the fans that I would play a part in retrieving the championship.
Ospreay said when the Death Riders did what they did to me, I was rushed to the emergency room. I have two herniated disks, C2 and C6, that have gone into my spinal cord. Every doctor I’ve spoken to said it is treatable. If everything goes right, I should be back by Forbidden Door. He thanked Swerve for everything he’s done. He said it’s an honor to fight by Hangman’s side and he’s proud to call him my world champion, but I’ll be waiting for a rematch. For the Death Riders, it’s an eye for an eye when he comes back. Swerve came out to hug Ospreay and raised his hand.
Julia Hart, Skye Blue, and Thekla form a bond
A vignette aired with Julia Hart, Skye Blue, and Thekla aired. They said they are not friends but have a bond. Whoever is not with us is against us.
Backstage:
Willow Nightingale challenged Thekla.
Backstage:
MJF asked the Hurt Business why they are working with Adam Copeland when it took him months to get in. MVP said we are in the business of hurting business and we made a business arrangement with Copeland. MJF said how about we get in the business of getting my world title around my waist. Lashley grabbed MJF by the throat and said we don’t need to help you with shit. Every week you keep saying I, I, I, and I want you out of the Hurt Syndicate. Lashley walked away. MJF looked at MVP and Benjamin and they shook their heads and walked away.
AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Match: “Timeless” Toni Storm (champion) vs. Billie Starkz
Storm submitted Starkz with the chicken wing to win the match. After the match, Starkz hit Storm with the title belt. She waived Athena to execute her guaranteed contract. Athena came to the ring and threw her into the steel ring steps. Athena hit her again with the contract. As Athena was getting ready to cash in her contract, Alex Windsor ran to the ring and attacked Athena and Starks to end the segment.
Winner: Toni Storm
Swerve Strickland (w/Prince Nana) vs Hechicero (w/Don Callis)
Swerve went to the top rope, but Lance Archer interfered and began beating up Swerve. Bandido and Brody King brawled with Hechicero and Archer to the back. Okada came in and hit Swerve in the back with a chair. Swerve got out of a Tombstone attempt on the chair and headbutted Okada in the chest. Swerve wrapped the chair around Okada’s neck, but Okada immediately took the chair off his neck and walked out of the ring.
Winner: Swerve Strickland
Backstage:
Ricochet said the Gates of Agony are now known only as G.O.A. He said we don’t care what anybody thinks of us, but you will fear us or respect us.
MJF – Mark Briscoe confrontation
MJF came to the ring. He said I don’t need Bobby Lashley to get back my world championship. I’m not going to execute my contract to beat Page. I’m going to beat you fair and square and that belt will be around my waist.
Mark Briscoe came out and challenged MJF to a match next week. MJF said no because nobody respects you or believes you’re a top guy. No one will ever respect you as much as they did your brother Jay. Mark ran to the ring and MJF ran away.
Mark Briscoe vs Claudio Castagnoli
Claudio gave Briscoe an avalanche body slam for a near fall. He then poked Briscoe in the eye and gave him an uppercut for a near fall. Claudio went for the Neutralizer, but Briscoe escaped and rolled him up in a small package to win the match.
Winner: Mark Briscoe
After the match, Marina Shafir chop blocked Briscoe’s left knee. Moxley and Yuta came out. Moxley said Hangman is not the champion as Claudio dropped Briscoe’s stomach first on the chair. Hangman came to the ring and challenged Moxley to a match next week for the world title. He demanded that everyone but a referee will be banned from ringside. Page said he assumes Moxley’s answer is yes so he will see him next week.
