This year’s AEW Dynasty pay-per-view event will be remembered for having some great matches, being a very long show, and Swerve Strickland being attacked by the returning Young Bucks to help Jon Moxley retain the AEW World Heavyweight Title in the main event.
The show also underwent various changes. Will Ospreay defeated Kevin Knight to advance in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament in the opening contest. However, this wasn’t always certain.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that “the match order changed multiple times leading up to the very start of the show.” It got to the point where Ospreay and Knight didn’t know for sure they were opening the event until just before it was slated to start.
Meltzer added, “And other matches were changed around as well throughout the day, although the main event was always going to be the main event.”
