AEW edited out mention of Rey Mysterio on Saturday’s Dynamite

AEW made an interesting change to Saturday’s episode of Dynamite that was previously taped from Jacksonville, Florida at Daily’s Place.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that a mention of Rey Mysterio was edited off the taped show. It turns out that Eddie Kingston mentioned Mysterio during his promo with Fenix, Pentagon, Butcher & Blade. However, it was removed from the show.

Per the report, as to why the mention was removed, there wasn’t a reason given.

Of course, Mysterio and WWE had been going back and forth in talks about a new deal. The issue between them was financial as Mysterio wanted a raise while at the time, Vince McMahon didn’t want to give him that as he referenced the budget cuts back in April due to COVID-19.

Dave Meltzer reported in the August 7th edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Mysterio is staying with WWE, but he couldn’t confirm whether Mysterio has put pen to paper just yet.

It was added that AEW made an offer that equaled the WWE’s per-match offer, but the WWE offer was higher because it was for more dates.

Fast forward to this past Friday, Meltzer reported that the belief is Mysterio signed a three-year deal.
