AEW Files For Captain Insano Trademark

AEW has applied to secure the trademark rights to a Captain Insano-related trademark.

The company filed for the character name on January 24th for merchandise services with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Here is the description of the filing:

“Bandanas; Hats; Headwear; Pants; Shirts; Shorts; Socks; Sweatshirts; T-shirts; Undergarments; Clothing jackets; Tank tops; Clothing for wear in wrestling games.”

Paul Wight, formerly known as The Big Show, portrayed Captain Insano in the 1998 film “The Waterboy” starring Adam Sandler. After Wight signed with AEW in 2021, the company filed for the trademark rights to the name in March of that year.

Wight has dressed up as the character in the past for various segments.
