AEW has officially filed to trademark the term “EXILE ON PAIN ST” with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The filing, which surfaced in early January 2026, is intended for professional wrestling entertainment purposes, covering a wide range of services including live wrestling performances, television programs, and distribution of ongoing series.
The exact use of the trademark has not been confirmed by AEW. AEW has a history of trademarking names for special episodes of its flagship shows, Dynamite and Collision, or for entirely new programming. Examples of similar recent filings include “AEW Firestorm,” “AEW Blitz,” and “AEW Tidal Wave.”
The name appears to be a play on the Rolling Stones’ iconic album Exile on Main St.. This has led to speculation that it could be tied to a specific storyline involving “exiled” wrestlers or a high-stakes match series, similar to how the “Continental Classic” (or C2) was trademarked for its signature round-robin tournament.
AEW previously filed for “September to Remember” to theme its residency at Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena. “Exile on Pain Street” could potentially serve as a similar branding for an upcoming residency or a multi-week event stretch.
The trademark filing includes the following specific descriptions of goods and services: “Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests. Entertainment services in the nature of live professional wrestling performances. Production of professional wrestling programs and events. Production and distribution of ongoing television programs in the field of professional wrestling.”
