AEW has locked down the trademark rights to “SAP.”
The company filed for the term on December 19 under the entertainment services classification with The United States Patent and Trademark Office. Here is the description:
“Mark For: SAP™ trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of conducting entertainment exhibitions in the nature of wresting exhibits and performances by professional wrestlers; Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services in the nature of development, creation, production, distribution, and post-production of television shows; Entertainment services in the nature of live wrestling performances; Entertainment services in the nature of production of wrestling programs and wrestling multimedia entertainment event content; Entertainment services, namely, production and distribution of ongoing television programs in the field of wrestling; Fan clubs; Providing a website featuring entertainment information in the fields of wrestling, sports, and entertainment; Providing entertainment information in the fields of wrestling, sports, and entertainment via a website; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network.”
On this week’s episode of AEW Dark, Tony Schiavone announced that Serpentico, Angelico, and Luther would now be known as the S.A.P.
S.A.P is short for Spanish Announce Project, as Angelico and Serpentico are on AEW’s Spanish announce team. Serpentico & Luther are already a tag team called Chaos Project.
The AEW team faced some backlash as there is already a Spanish Announce Team in wrestling established in 2000. S.A.T. member Jose Maximo took to Twitter to refer Serpentico and Angelico as a “bunch of marks trying to benefit from our gimmick and name.”
