AEW Has Changed Plans for Championship Feud

There has been a notable shift to AEW’s plans heading into its next pay-per-view event, Full Gear, which goes down next month. The card for the show has started to take shape.

Matches confirmed thus far include AEW World Heavyweight Champion MJF vs. Jay White, AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida vs. Toni Storm, ROH Tag Team Champion MJF vs. The Gunns (Austin & Colten Gunn), and Christian Cage, Luchasaurus & Nick Wayne vs. Sting, Darby Allin & TBA.

At one point, the plan was for FTR to defend the AEW Tag Team Titles against The Young Bucks at the show, making it their fourth match together. Plans for that to happen became in doubt once FTR lost the titles to Ricky Starks and Big Bill.

FTR suggested the loss with the idea for it to lead to a rematch and the winners would defend against the Young Bucks.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that plans have changed.

Meltzer wrote, “The belief right now is that everything has changed. The Young Bucks won the four-team match at WrestleDream to earn a tag title match, but when they returned to television this past week, the announcers never brought up them being in line for a tag title or winning that match. In fact, as best I can tell, the four-way win hasn’t been talked about in weeks. It also could be Big Bill & Ricky Starks in a rematch with FTR on the PPV rather than television.”

The rematch was originally slated for Saturday’s Collision, but nothing was discussed of it happening, although there have been teases of a rematch happening over the last few weeks.
