AEW has significant plans to push wrestler as a top star

Former 5-time KO-D Openweight Champion Konosuke Takeshita signed with AEW last November after several impressive outings while wrestling on AEW programming, mostly Dark and Dark Elevation.

Although Takeshita remains signed to DDT in Japan, he is a fully-fledged AEW roster member in AEW.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that AEW is looking to make him a top star down the line.

Meltzer wrote, “Although he’s not being featured on television right now, and when he is, he’s there to lose to the top stars in great matches, there are significant plans for Takeshita to be pushed as a top tier guy. Obviously, the Don Callis scouting storyline looks to be a catalyst in some form.”

Takeshita has already found himself working with top talent as he is set to take on Bryan Danielson on next week’s episode of Dynamite in LA.
