AEW is planning TNT special with possible NWA/CWF throwback name

All Elite Wrestling’s flagship weekly series, Dynamite, will move from TNT to TBS on January 5, 2022. WarnerMedia previously confirmed that AEW will hold four specials a year starting in 2022 on TNT.

Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast is reporting that he was told by s source that there is a TNT special planned on January 8th. He’s heard the name of the show could be Battle of the Belts, which was a show first held by the NWA and Championship Wrestling From Florida back in 1985. The first event was headlined by NWA World Champion Ric Flair beating Wahoo McDaniel in a Best Two Out Of Three Falls Match.

Zarian wrote, “Per source: AEW is planning a TNT Special on Jan 8th. They're obviously not able to use the name "Clash of the Champions" due to WWE owning the rights...However, I'm hearing the possible name for this show will be "Battle of the Belts" A throwback to NWA/CFW from.”
