AEW presented its first pay-per-view event, Revolution, of 2021 back on March 7th.
Shortly after the event, it was reported Revolution figures to do between 122,000 and 137,000 buys. The belief at the time since it was the early estimated television number, the buys would increase 10-15 percent.
AEW gets 45 percent of the total gross from B/R Live and television cable in the US while for FITE TV and other international distributors, AEW gets a cut of 40 percent.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that those at AEW noted “they won’t know the [television PPV] number until 60 days after the event, but they are not expecting the number to be in the 71,000 range.”
It should be noted that today (May 7th) would mark exactly 60 days after the event took place. Thus, it’s likely the actually buyrate will be revealed in the coming days.
AEW will present its Double or Nothing pay-per-view event on Sunday, May 30, 2021 in Jacksonville, Florida at Daily’s Place. AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida vs. Dr. Britt Baker is the only match announced for the show thus far.
