AEW Management ‘Happy’ With Andrade El Idolo’s Recent Performance

Andrade El Idolo has been on a tear in AEW since returning to the promotion in early January. The former IWGP Intercontinental Champion quickly grew in popularity with AEW fans by removing his pants during his match with Magnus, and he has also impressed with his in-ring performances, having matches with Swerve Strickland and Kenny Omega in recent weeks.

Andrade defeated both Strickland and Omega as part of a push for El Idolo as he became involved in the AEW World Title picture. He replaced Samoa Joe, who has been out of action due to being placed in concussion protocol.

Fightful Select reported that people in AEW were happy with Andrade’s performance and the reaction to him defeating Swerve Strickland.

El Idolo is set to face Hangman Page at Grand Slam Australia to determine who will challenge for the AEW World Championship at Revolution. Andrade will also face Yota Tsuji for the IWGP Global Heavyweight Title at NJPW New Beginning USA, having become the number one contender courtesy of a win over Gabe Kidd at New Beginning in Osaka.
