AEW Name Was Written Off TV Due To Upcoming Surgery

AEW will be without a personality going forward due to surgery.

On this week’s episode of Dynamite, AEW announced that Taz wasn’t at the show because of the attack in the parking lot. The storyline was that he suffered a knee injury. HOOK, his son, vowed to get revenge on who did it.

It’s believed to be the start of a storyline between Christian and HOOK. In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Taz was written off television due to an upcoming knee replacement surgery.

Meltzer wrote, “The story was that he was attacked and injured was a cover story because he’ll be out for a while as he’s getting full knee replacement surgery. His knees have been bad for years.”

Taz has suggested in the past that he needed the surgery, but kept pushing it off. Nigel McGuinness took his place on commentary working with Tony Schiavone and Excalibur on Dynamite.

We wish him a speedy recovery.
