AEW nixed plans to have a former WWE star appear on Wednesday’s Dynamite

Former WWE star Gangrel said on his Fangin N’ Bangin podcast that he was scheduled to appear on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite in Milwaukee. However, that was nixed on Monday after Edge did a spot with Seth Rollins on Friday’s SmackDown where the Brood’s music played and there was fake blood dumped on Rollins. Edge also made a Brood entrance at SummerSlam.

“I was supposed to be on a plane to Milwaukee. [Monday], I got a return phone call saying, ‘Oh man, we’re so sorry, we’re going in a different direction because of WWE media stuff.’

Gangrel said the entrance Edge did was great, but he wasn’t excited about it because he knew he had an opportunity and the timing sucked.

“AEW contacted me and they wanted me to come in and do Dynamite tomorrow..Wednesday night Dynamite. They were putting the entrance together, they were going to do the fire, they were putting the music together and getting it all together.”

He later added, “When I got the phone call that they were going to go in a different direction, it’s not their fault man, it’s just timing. I think it was Tony’s [Khan] idea to bring me in and do all that. I believe it was.”

Gangrel didn’t say the reason why AEW was going to bring him in, but it would’ve likely been part of the storyline with Christian Cage and Kenny Omega as Cage was part of the faction with Edge and Gangrel.
