AEW Star Confirms ACL Injury

AEW wrestler Leila Grey has provided a detailed update on her status after she suffered an injury during a match in December. Grey confirmed she tore her ACL during her TBS Championship match against Mercedes Mone on the December 6, 2025, episode of AEW Collision in Columbus, Ohio.

Injury Details And Immediate Reaction

In a video uploaded to social media on January 19, Grey shared footage of the exact moment the injury occurred. She explained that she felt the “first pop” when Mone pushed her into the corner turnbuckles. Despite this, Grey continued the match, noting that she had never been injured before and was unsure of the severity. The situation worsened when she attempted a running knee on Mone and felt a “second pop,” at which point she realized the seriousness of the injury.

Surgery Status And Prehab Requirements

Grey revealed that her surgery has been delayed due to mobility issues. Speaking on the video, she stated, “Today is January 19th… it’s been over a month since my injury. I finally got to see the surgeon today, and unfortunately, the feedback that I got was, I still do not have complete range of motion in my leg. I cannot fully extend it, still can’t bend my knees. Because of that, I need to do more prehab, at least another month of prehab, twice a week. And then, after that, he said, he should be able to operate.”

Context Of The Match

The injury took place during a high-profile opportunity for Grey as she challenged for the TBS Championship. The match aired on AEW Collision from the Greater Columbus Convention Center. While Grey managed to finish the bout, the injury has now sidelined her for an extended period as she works toward surgical repair. We wish her a speedy recovery.
