AEW Star Is Dealing With A Foot Injury

AEW star and current Ring of Honor (ROH) World Television Champion Nick Wayne has reportedly been dealing with a foot injury, according to a new report from PWInsider. The report did not specify the severity of the injury or how much, if any, in-ring time Wayne might miss.

The news of a potential injury comes at a pivotal time in Wayne’s AEW career, as he recently turned against his longtime mentor, Christian Cage. The turn occurred at the All In: Texas event on July 12, 2025, when Wayne and Kip Sabian attacked Cage after they failed to win the AEW World Tag Team Championship, effectively disbanding The Patriarchy stable.

Prior to the turn, Wayne had a successful run as part of The Patriarchy. On the July 21, 2024, episode of Collision, he, alongside Cage and Killswitch, won the AEW World Trios Championship. This victory made Wayne the youngest champion in AEW history at 19 years old.

Currently, Wayne holds a major singles title as the reigning ROH World Television Champion. He won the championship on the April 17, 2025, episode of Collision by defeating Komander, a victory which also made him the youngest-ever holder of that title.

Wayne, who turned 20 in July, is a third-generation wrestler, the son of the late Buddy Wayne and grandson of Moondog Ed Moretti. He was trained by his father and made his professional debut at the age of 12 in 2018.

He was famously offered an AEW contract by Darby Allin in February 2022, while still a teenager, and made his official debut for the promotion on July 12, 2023, shortly after his 18th birthday.
