AEW star Jake Doyle has suffered a significant injury just weeks after making his debut for the company. During the January 28 episode of AEW Dynamite, Doyle sustained a torn bicep while competing in an AEW World Tag Team Championship match.
The injury occurred midway through the bout, where Doyle and his Don Callis Family partner Mark Davis challenged FTR for the titles. Doyle was on the receiving end of an apron DDT from Cash Wheeler. While taking the move, Doyle held onto the top rope as he landed on the hard edge of the ring. The added pressure from holding the rope appeared to cause the tear.
Doyle was heard calling out the injury aloud in the ring immediately after the spot. Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com later confirmed the nature of the injury.
Doyle, formerly known as Jake Something in TNA Wrestling, only recently joined the AEW roster. He was quickly paired with Davis under the mentorship of Don Callis. There is currently no official statement on his specific recovery timeline, though a torn bicep generally requires a healing period of three to six months.
We wish him a speedy recovery.
Jake Something appears to have suffered a legit injury during this spot tonight.
You can hear him tell Cash, “I just tore my bicep"
Best wishes to him.https://t.co/z1AEwllmpw
