AEW Star Injured At Dynasty

An injury to Gabe Kidd forced a significant mid-match change during the AEW World Trios Championship defense at AEW Dynasty on Sunday night. Clark Connors, David Finlay, and Kidd were defending the titles against Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, and surprise returnee Kyle O’Reilly at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. The match had already drawn attention for O’Reilly’s return to the ring after months away with a neck injury, but an unexpected development shifted the narrative entirely.

According to Fightful Select, Kidd was removed from the match midway through the title defense after appearing to suffer an injury, with AEW medical personnel escorting him away from ringside.

Fightful reported: “An unfortunate injury happened at AEW Dynasty. Gabe Kidd was removed from his Trios Title defense at AEW Dynasty. Midway through The Dogs title defense against the Conglomeration, Gabe Kidd was taken to the back by the AEW medical team. Those we spoke to at the show said he did appear to be injured upon arriving backstage.”

The report also noted a specific area of concern as Kidd made his exit. “Kidd appeared to be holding his wrist during the exit. The rest of the match had to be called on an altered plan. We are working to find out if the match finish was changed at all,” Fightful reported.

With Kidd removed from the bout, the match continued under revised circumstances. Cassidy, Strong, and O’Reilly ultimately captured the titles, giving O’Reilly championship gold in his first match back from injury. We wish him a speedy recovery.
