AEW Star Reportedly Worked Major PPV Match While Injured

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, former AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter was already injured heading into her match against Mercedes Mone at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer clarified the timeline of Hayter’s injury, which has once again put her on the sidelines.

“She was hurt in the Mercedes Mone match,” Meltzer stated. “When they did the Thekla injury angle, that was set up to cover for her injury and give her a storyline reason to be out.”

Meltzer explained that the post-match angle on Dynamite, where the debuting Thekla attacked Hayter, was created specifically because Hayter was already dealing with an injury.

“That was the reason it wasn’t followed up on, because she actually went into it hurt,” he concluded.
