AEW Star Set To Miss Upcoming Shows

An update has been provided on the schedule for Konosuke Takeshita, which will see the current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion miss upcoming episodes of AEW television. Takeshita, who holds contracts with AEW, NJPW, and DDT-Pro, is set to make his return to DDT-Pro for the first time in six months, creating a conflict with AEW’s taping schedule in the United States.

Takeshita’s Return to DDT-Pro

The DDT-Pro promotion has officially announced that Konosuke Takeshita will be returning for a series of events in early November. This will mark his first appearance for the company since the May 17 Dramatic Dreams show.

The official English language Twitter account for DDT Pro-Wrestling made the announcement, stating: “14th IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Konosuke Takeshita will be taking part on the November 6th Shinjuku FACE, and November 8th and 9th Kumamoto shows!”

Conflict with AEW Schedule

These confirmed dates in Japan mean Takeshita will not be present for AEW’s television tapings during that week. Specifically, he will not be able to appear in person at the November 8 AEW Collision taping, which is scheduled to take place in Houston, Texas.

Furthermore, the 14-hour time difference between Japan and the United States, combined with the long flight time, makes it nearly impossible for Takeshita to appear on the November 5 episode of AEW Dynamite, given he is booked in Japan on November 6.

Reigning Champion in NJPW

The scheduling update comes at a time when Takeshita is in the midst of a significant run as the top champion in NJPW. He recently won the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship from Zack Sabre Jr. at the King of Pro Wrestling event. After his victory, he stated his intention to showcase the title around the world but noted he would be willing to “move things around” so he could participate in any tour he is called for.

As a member of the Don Callis Family, Konosuke Takeshita is a prominent figure in All Elite Wrestling. He is scheduled to team with fellow Don Callis Family member Kazuchika Okada to challenge Bandido and Brody King for the AEW World Tag Team Championship at the WrestleDream pay-per-view on October 18.
