Both Rush and Dralistico, members of the La Faccion Ingobernable faction, are facing extended time out of action and will likely require surgery for injuries that worsened because they postponed treatment. According to a report from Bryan Alvarez, both wrestlers continued to compete in hopes of securing regular work on the main AEW shows, Collision and Dynamite. The injuries have already forced Rush off the upcoming ROH Final Battle show.
The Cost of Working Through the Pain
The report details that Rush has been working with a pre-existing knee injury that has deteriorated over time. His desire to remain active for main roster opportunities prevented him from taking the necessary time off for surgery.
“We are told Rush has been working with a bad knee for years, but because he wanted opportunities on Collision and Dynamite he didn’t want to take time off. Working through it made it worse, and as Tony Khan noted in a media call this week, he’s off the Ring of Honor Final Battle show and almost certainly needs surgery. He will be evaluated in the next week or so and almost certainly undergo surgery. It is believed he had knee surgery previously in Mexico but it was messed up and didn’t solve the problem.”
The injury has forced Rush to vacate the ROH Tag Team titles he held with Sammy Guevara. Guevara will now team with The Beast Mortos in a match for the vacant titles at Final Battle. Rush was originally scheduled to face Bandido for the ROH World Championship at the pay-per-view, but he was replaced by a Survival of the Fittest match featuring multiple competitors.
Dralistico’s Injury and Vacated Titles
Rush’s brother, Dralistico, is facing a similar situation. He suffered an ear injury in two separate matches and also attempted to work through the pain to secure regular main roster work in AEW.
“Dralistico suffered injuries to his ear in two different matches. He also worked through it since he was hoping to get regular work on the main roster, but eventually it became too painful and he was told he’d need surgery to fix it. He’s either already undergone surgery or will undergo surgery shortly.”
