At this morning’s Warner Bros. Discovery UpFronts presentation, the belief is that AEW’s new television deal and the launch of AEW Collision will be announced.
With the launch of a new show, changes are coming to AEW. As previously reported, there is expected to be a roster split with CM Punk being the main star of Collision while Hangman Page, Jon Moxley, and The Elite will be on Dynamite, although there will be some instances of talent appearing on the opposite show.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that the launch of “Collision will see a big cash infusion for AEW.”
As of last week, the belief was that there would be a soft roster split for both Collision and Dynamite. However, they were told that talent is expecting there to be “a hard brand split, with the exception of many AEW Champions.” However, there will be “additional exceptions here and there.”
It’s unclear how AEW will go about the roster split, including if there will be a draft. As of this week, “the working plan is a firm brand split, with some rare exceptions.”
AEW has been planning to bring back absent talent as part of strategic timing to go along with the launch of Collision. This is why Thunder Rosa and Miro returned last week on Dynamite.
It was added that some people say there looks like some WCW Monday Night Nitro influence to early graphics tied to Collision.
