AEW WrestleDream Results: Jon Moxley Wins World Title, Bryan Danielson’s Full-Time Career Ends

AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson vs. Jon Moxley with that stipulation that if Daielson had lost then he would’ve had to retire from full-time wrestling took place at the AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view event from the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, WA on Saturday night.

Moxley jumped him before the bout started with the Final Countdown playing in the background. Bryan with a running knee strike to Moxley with a chair and then the match started. Moxley with a series of running knee strikes for 2. They brawled on the announce table and Moxley with a piledriver on it. Marina Shafiar ripped up the mat on the floor. Bryan avoided a piledriver and hit a back body drop. Back in the ring, Bryan put the kicks to him and hit a german suplex from the top rope. Moxley talked trash and it fired up Danielson, who hit him with a series of kicks. There was outside interference from Mariana, allowing Moxley to hit a cutter. The referee kicked her out from ringside. Danielson reversed a german suplex and hit a running knee for 2. Danielson with foot stomps then the yes lock, but Moxley got the bottom rope to break it up. Danielson went for an outside dive, but Moxley caught him with the death rider. Back in the ring, Moxley covered him for 2. Bryan with a triangle choke and landing elbow strikes. They traded submission holds. Danielson with a running knee strike for 2. Moxley with the death rider for 1. Moxley with the rear-naked choke for the win as the fans booed.

Winner: Jon Moxley

Post-match, Moxley was going to put a plastic bag over Danielson, but Wheeler Yuta and Darby Allin made the save. Yuta laid out with Allin with a running knee. Yuta put the bag over Danielson’s head. Security tried to stop them but couldn’t get through. Private Party, Jeff Jarrett, and others tried to stop. Moxley put a chair around Danielson’s neck and had Claudio stomp it.
