AEW’s Cash Wheeler Arrested for Aggravated Assault With a Firearm

Cash Wheeler, real name Daniel Wheeler, is facing one count of aggravated assault with a firearm after being arrested on Friday morning by the Orlando Police Department.

The Orlando Sentinel first reported the news. According to county records following the arrest, Wheeler was booked in Circuit Court.

A warrant for his arrest was filed on July 28 after the incident happened on July 27. He pleaded not guilty to the charge via his attorney on August 3. The charge is considered a third-degree felony in Florida.

Wheeler had a hearing this afternoon where his attorney asked the judge, which was granted, for Wheeler to be released on a $2,500 bond. His attorney noted this was not a domestic issue and did not know the people involved. The prosecutor mentioned Wheeler allegedly flashing a gun during a road rage incident. All of Wheeler’s firearms will have to be turned over to the local sheriff’s department until the case is over, and he is not allowed to have contact with those involved.

FTR (Wheeler and Dax Harwood) is currently the AEW Tag Team Champions. They’re scheduled to defend the titles against The Young Bucks at the All In pay-per-view event on August 27th from Wembley Stadium.

He has been in the wrestling business for 18 years, where he spent six of those in WWE as part of The Revival before leaving and joining AEW in 2020. Since then, they’ve gone on to become one of AEW’s top acts.

AEW issued the following statement:

“AEW has been made aware of the charge, and we are closely monitoring the situation. (Wheeler) is fully cooperating with local authorities.”
