Serena Deeb hasn’t been seen in a year on AEW television and has now opened up as to why.
Away
Deeb made her AEW debut on the September 2, 2020, episode of Dynamite, where she lost to then-NWA Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa in her first match since 2017. She was regularly used on AEW television until she worked at the AEW Dark: Elevation taping on October 18, 2022.
While away, there was a report Deeb had some backstage heat before disappearing from television. She started attending AEW events again last month.
The reason
Deeb took to Instagram to reveal she had suffered three seizures since Last October that kept her out of the ring.
“Since last October, I’ve had a series of three unprovoked seizures. This has been a really dramatic time period for me and has affected my career and life. In a lot of ways, it’s been really scary for me. I’ve seen a lot of different doctors and had every test imaginable. For the longest time, nobody could tell me why this happened.”
Deeb talked about how being out of the ring was challenging for her as she loves the industry and misses performing. She shared her empathy for those who have suffered seizures and wants to send a message to people out there who deal with the same thing. She wants them to know that they’re not alone and a light is at the end of the tunnel.
She added, “I saw my neurologist recently, and he told me that I’ve recovered, I’m healthy, and I am officially cleared to wrestle. That means I’m ready to return.”
