During an interview with the New York Post, AEW President Tony Khan was asked about the Daniel Bryan and CM Punk rumors.
While it is believed that both are signed or very close to being signed, Khan is not confirming or denying anything.
When asked if he was in talks for any former WWE Champions, Khan said the following: “I have no comment on those, but those are good questions but I can’t comment on those.”
Khan was then asked what it would mean for a company other than AEW to add Daniel Bryan and CM Punk to their roster at the same time. Khan said the following: “I can’t comment on those two guys, but I think there are certainly a lot of exciting rumors right now.”
As previously noted, Punk has not denied the rumors and many believe that he will make his AEW debut in Chicago at the All Out pay-per-view and Bryan could make his debut at the New York City show on September 21. However, until they actually show up on AEW TV, nothing is 100 percent confirmed by either side at this point. Konnan said last week on his podcast that he asked Khan about Punk and Bryan and Khan would not confirm anything.
During the interview, Khan also talked about the Chris Jericho vs. Nick Gage match happening tonight on AEW Dynamite and said that, other matches on tonight’s show, AEW’s partnership with the Safe Alliance, Malakai Black and Andrade El Idolo, the fun moment between Orange Cassidy and Sting, and more.
