An AEW veteran, who has been with the promotion since 2019, is hanging up his boots.
Fightful Select reports that Christopher Daniels is effectively retired from in-ring competition following his bout with Hangman Page. The Texas Death Match took place at Thursday’s AEW Collision tapings for Saturday’s show and saw Daniels go over Hangman.
According to the report, Daniels had been looking to have his last match and officially retire for quite some time. Daniels has yet to comment on the retirement publicly.
Daniels first made a name for himself in ROH and PWG, where he had classics with Samoa Joe and Bryan Danielson before becoming a core member of the X-division in TNA. His ROH run saw him be an ROH World Champion and multi-time ROH World Tag Team Champion, while in TNA, he was a multiple-time TNA X-Division Champion and TNA World Tag Team Champion.
Once arriving in AEW, Daniels continued his SCU faction with Kaz and Scorpio Sky, becoming one-half of the first-ever AEW Tag Team champions. In addition to his in-ring role, Daniels has worked in AEW in various backstage roles, including as a talent relations representative and producer in AEW.
