Andrade El Idolo has wasted no time making a monumental impact on the wrestling world since his WWE departure, capturing a major championship in his very first match as a free agent. Just days after his shocking return to AEW, Andrade traveled to Tijuana, Mexico, for The Crash Lucha Libre on October 3, where he defeated DMT Azul to become the new Crash Heavyweight Champion.
The victory ended Azul’s incredibly long reign, which had lasted for nearly 900 days, and immediately re-established Andrade as a top-tier, world-class competitor outside of the WWE bubble. The championship win comes at the start of a new, buzzworthy chapter for Andrade.
He officially departed from WWE on September 13 of this year and made a shocking return to AEW on the October 1 anniversary episode of AEW Dynamite. In a moment that stunned the wrestling world, he appeared at the end of the show to attack Kenny Omega, aligning himself with the notorious Don Callis Family.
This is Andrade’s second stint with All Elite Wrestling, and he has made history as the first wrestler to go from WWE to AEW, back to WWE, and then return to AEW once more. His last match in a WWE ring was on the second night of this year’s SummerSlam premium live event on August 3, where he competed in a multi-team match for the WWE Tag Team Championships. Following his return to AEW and his attack on Kenny Omega, Andrade revealed that he has a “hit list,” with Omega being the first name on it.
